A lot happened in 2013.
We bought a home and moved to our land.
We setup a homestead, sort of. Okay, we setup a small garden area.
We bought a tractor.
We bought chickens.
We butchered chickens.
We got eggs from chickens.
We had a calf explosion. Six in nine months.
We stopped taking dance after 10 years at the same studio.
My oldest daughter got her braces off and started high school.
My fourth child started kindergarten.
We took a vacation to visit family.
We stopped to bond with our redneck heritage.
My dad and I went to Germany and Belgium.
We visited his uncle’s grave at Henri-Chapelle American Military Cemetery.
We said goodbye to a faithful van that held on as long as it could.
We adjusted to alternate and cozier transportation arrangements.
We celebrated our first Thanksgiving and Christmas in our new home.
We celebrated the holidays with friends.
Despite many challenges and changes and losses and failures, we lived, laughed, and loved our way through another year together. I’d call that a success.
